This is a true story and very sad at the same time. I will start from the beginning. My Grandfather had some problems, my parents took him in and he lived in their basement that had been turn into a suit. For fourteen years my Mom took care of him even when she was sick.
My Mom Jessie Rempel has kidney disease since she was a child. She has been sick for a very long time. As the years have gone by she has been getting sicker.
This is about how her sister betrayed her.
The first time was when my Mom asked her sister to help.
She went to her sister because she had broken her knee. One thing about my Grandfather was there were times he was not very nice. He always expected my Mom to bring him his food. Even though he could walk. So every day my Mom would walk down into the basement to bring him his food or if I was there I would.
Well my Mom asked her sister to help her.
You know what my Aunt said to my Mom “you made your bed so lay in it.” That was the first thing that I knew about.
My Mom was hurt.
When I was not there my Mom being a good girl, did as her Dad wanted even thought her knee was broken. My Dad could not help her much because he was a roofer and worked long hours. My Mom knew if she didn’t bring my Grandfather his dinner he would scream at her.
My Husband and I were living in an apartment when my Grandfather approached my Husband and myself and offered to help us get a house. He felt that his great Granddaughter needed to be in a house with a yard. He decided that if he helped use get a home he could move in with use.
My Mom told me that she felt we would be making a mistake if we let him move in. We did not listen. We agreed to have my Grandfather move in with us. I think in a lot of ways my Mom was relieved. She would not have to keep running for him.
We found a place with a suit in the basement. It was a beautiful two story home in Calgary Alberta. My Husband set up a dog door in the side of our house so my Grandfather’s dog could run in and out. My Grandfather put the down payment on the house and every month he would pay us $300 dollars a month and $100 dollars a month for food.
The first month we ended up tossed out of are home because my Grandfather had some mental problems. We lived with my Grandmother for that time. Then my parents and Grandmother got involved. Well we moved back in and I took care of him. It was not easy, it got to the point were I would have to clean up his mess. In his bathroom. He had gotten so sick and we had to get a counsellor from a seniors home to help us. By this time my parents had moved to B C.
I knew I could not rely on my Aunt or Uncle.
My Grandfather would have bowel movement walking to his bathroom. Or he would fall of the toilet and do his thing on the floor. I would clean it up.
My husband did what he could to help me. My doctor had put me on meds so I could handle things better. My Mom came to Calgary because my Grandfather was getting sicker.
Well my Aunt came over one day with her husband and accused me of trying to kill my Grandfather because we had the heat so high. I tried to tell my Aunt that he wanted it that hot.
My Aunt did this right in front of my three year old daughter, Cousins and my Mom.
My daughter saw her Dad pull up through the front window and ran outside screaming. She ran out to her Dad’s car. My husband had not evened parked yet. My cousins husband tried to stop her but mist grabbing her. When my husband saw his little girl run out to the car he got mad as hell. He stop the car and picked Samantha up. He walk throw the door and put our daughter down and saw what was happening. My cousins husband blocked him.
My Mom dragged my Aunt down stairs and asked my Grandfather “if he would like The heat turn down?” He answered with some not so nice words. That he was still cold.
When my Aunt came back up, my husband told her to get the hell out of our house. That same day my aunt’s daughter showed up. She was mad because no one had told her my Mom was in town. Well my two angles that were on the wall crashed to the floor and broke when she slammed out the door.
My Grandfather end up going to the hospital and the doctor told use he would not be coming home. He was just to two sick. He did get better but he needed more care then I could give him. The doctor felt that I had a small child to take care of.
We ended up having to sell our home. We just could not keep up with the payments so we moved to BC.
We moved to BC Nov 2002. My Mom had left my Aunt in charge of my Grandfather. She was to make sure that the home he was in got their payments.
The first thing my aunt did was move my Grandfather to a new home.
Two years ago she told my Mom that she was going to take money out of my Grandfather’s account and put it into another account, to make sure that the money would be protected. So when he died his money would be safe. My Mom told her there was no need because he had a will.
On good Friday 2008 my Grandfather died. My Mom trusted her sister. That was a big mistake. My Mom did not have the money to see him before he died. My uncle helped my Mom get there after my Grandfather died because she was in charge of his will.
My Mom went to Calgary and found out a lot before the funeral. My Aunt had put his money into an account. She also put her name on the funeral home that said she was in charge of his will. My Mom had to change everything. My Aunt kept $6000 dollars that was not hers. Everything went to my Mom because she had taken care of him. I was to get his Bible. My Aunt took everything she could get her greedy hands on.
On top of that when my Mom got to Calgary my Aunt told her she would not give my Mom her kidney.
Many years ago my Aunt said “That when it was time for my Mom to get a kidney, she was to tell my Aunt because she was more then willing to give her a kidney. A short time before my Grandfather got so sick my Mom told my Aunt that it was time to get tested.
When my Mom got to Calgary my Aunt. her so called sister told her she would not giving my mom her kidney. My Mom asked her why and her answer was because my doctor told me not too. My Mom asked why would the doctor tell you that. My Aunt had no answer.
My Mom was hurt, first she tries to take everything my Grandfather had and then she tells my Mom she will not give her kidney.
Now my Mom has to wait for five to ten years for a dead donor. Her hole body is breaking down. The doctors have told her she is losing her toes and her legs, which look like logs from the swelling. They swell so bad that the skin is breaking. I would give my Mom my kidney but I also have problems with mine. I keep passing stones which scars the kidney so I can not give her mine.
