Jake the winter cat

Jake the winter cat

There was once a big tom cat with long hair. He was Orange and white. He came to us with ice on his fur. Cold and shivering. We invited him in because he had no home.

We had seen him all summer but could not get near him. Until that cold day. We open our front door and He walked right in. And from that day on he lived with us.

We got him neutered. He never tried to go outside again he had found his home. He stayed there until the day he passed away. Now he rest in peace at the pet cemetery. Along with all our pets that we have had. It has been well over five years ago that he has been gone but never forgotten. Not one of our pet could ever be forgotten.

So if you see an animal in need reach out to them. You never know what could happen. My family has owned over a two dozen animals. They have all been rescued pets. Not one of our pets have had baby's. They come in to my family's homes and we get them fixed. There are so many animals out there who needs someone to care.

It is really hard on the animals at this time of year.

Do We Need Animal Dissection In Schools

Do We Need Animal Dissection In Schools

I have to say that there is no need to have animal dissection in schools. I think it is cruel and it makes me sick. I never took it because my family and myself are animal lover. I feel if they keep allowing this we are just teaching our children that you can kill animals and, not have to worry about it. You can look at a picture and learn all about the inside of animals. why kill them when there is no need to. I look at it this way if a human kills anther human it is murder. so when somebody kills and animal is that not murder as well. People will tell you animals do not feel pain or they do not have a soul. Witch is bull. I have had animals all my life and, I know they feel pain. They morn as well when they lose a owner or one of there young. if you cut them they bleed just like we do. That make me believe that they have a soul. A lot of people say to me when I bring up that animals have souls. they say to me "God put animals on this earth to be used my man."

wrong according to Genesis 2:18-19 And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the Field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and what so ever Adam called every living creature, that was the name there of.

Now if God calls them living creature does that not mean they have a soul just like us. There are many place that talk about animals in the bible. I believe all creatures great and small have a soul. They should have the right not to be used. I have my animal technician diploma and I have never had to cut an animal open. I learned through books. So there is no reason Animal dissection should be in our children's school. It just a cheap way and cruel way to teach our children. Books cost a lot more then a few animals.

swans Picture B

Swans

Swans

On March 4, 2008 we had to bring our daughter to the dentist in Penticton. We live in Oliver which is 45 mins from Penticton. We pass Vaseaux lake and every year they come to the lake just before spring and just before winter. I'm always looking for them when we go to Penticton. This year I manage to get some pictures of them.

When we got back from Penticton, and I decided to show my mom the pictures. I pull out my digital camera and used my recorders that hook into the TV so we could see how they looked.

At first I thought there was something wrong with the one swan in picture B. It had a black thing around its neck. So I called the wildlife group of BC they gave me another number to call. They gave me the number to Environment Canada Wildlife Enforcement Branch.

The Lady I spoke to asked me to send her the picture thought e-mail so that she could see what was happening to the swan. She wanted to make sure that no one had hurt it. Swans are on the endangered list so they are always keeping an eye on them.

After she saw the picture she sent them to a Wildlife Officer to review. The wildlife officer reviewed the picture and said that he felt it was a type of tag that is used to keep track of the bird and to identify them. This is done by the Canadian Wildlife Service.

The first lady that I talked to E-mail me again to tell me that she would call the Canadian Wildlife Service to confirm.

She did E-mail me again and replied " this swan most likely was banded in Alaska."

I was relieved that the swan was okay. BC is quite far a way from Alaska. To think how far that bird had come was amazing. The best thing about this, is that I saw the swan. Now I know when I see them with this black color not to worry because it is a way of keeping track of them.

The Mountain Sheep

The Mountain Sheep

The Mountain Sheep

About two hundred years ago the Bighorn Sheep were wide spread until the 1900s. Hunting competition from domesticated sheep, and diseases had decreased the population to only several thousand.

In BC near Oliver we had a program to bring back their numbers. Which was great the only problem was because of hunting, and disease, competition from domesticated sheep and waiting to long to do something, their was one Ovis canadensis auduboni sub-species that lived on the Black Hills, that went extinct.

In BC near Oliver. They had a program in affect for the Bighorn sheep. While the program was in affect they were not on the hunting list. Until they needed a fence. They rewarded the biggest donator, to hunt down one Bighorn sheep. Well they got their fence and who ever donated the most money got their sheep.

To me it makes no scents to let someone hunt them, when they are trying to save them. In BC now the Bighorn sheep are back on the hunting list.

To think all that work they put into saving them is going to go up in smoke. Who's to say that we will not run into the same problem in the future.

How I feel about Circus

How I feel about Circus

How I feel about Circus
When I was younger I would go to the circus, until I started working for an animal welfare group, not animal rights group, there is a difference . Animal welfare group operates at a different level than animal rights groups.

I was vice president of C.A.P.S Canada, and we would mostly work with by-laws for pets, we cared about all animals.

People would come to our group to tell us and show us videos about the cruelty to animals that was out there in the world. I saw videos of animal cruelty that would give you nightmares. I cried a lot hoping that there was some way to stop the abuse of innocent animals.

I started to learn more about the lab testing ,and animals used for show. I also learned about the parrots, that were brought here in suitcases and in tubes.

I have a child who is 11 years old, that has never been to the Circus, and never will go to one. My daughter was told all about the Circus, and about animal cruelty.

We have always had pets in our family. I have brought up my daughter to hate the circus, and any cruelty to animals. she has seen some of the videos, but not the ones that give you nightmares. In time I will give her the choice to see them.

We live in a small town and when the Circus comes they have their elephants standing out side chained to their trailer.

I hate seeing it, and when I walk by the trainer I always make sure they know how I feel. Most of the time I will be walking with someone, and I will say it loud enough that I hate the way they treat their animals, and I wish They would get out of my town.

My family tells everyone what we know, and what they do to their animals, and how much we are against it.

I think the circus should be banned from having animals. I would enjoy a circus with the clowns and the magic acts or Trapeze. Leave the animals out of the circus.
